Dear Members and Residents

Greetings to All

First, I thank all the members of our Block Association for choosing me as the Secretary of the Salt Lake City BA Block Sarbojanin Durgotsav and Shyama Puja Committee 2015 as par the decision taken at a Special General Meeting held on 26 July, 2015. I would try my best to be worthy of your trust, and endeavour sincerely to live up to your expectations and also the Block’s rich culture and traditions.

In this context, I would also like to remind you that as per the decision taken at the said Special General Meeting, all bona fide Members of the Block Association will have to pay the minimum subscription of Rs 800 for the Pujas

Now, I am happy to share with you that the Team BA Block for the ensuing Pujas has been formed and approved by the Members of the Salt Lake City BA Block Sarbojanin Durgotsav and Shyama Puja Committee 2015 of the Block Association at a specially convened meeting held on 9 August 2015. One of the key decisions taken at the Meeting was that the inauguration of the Puja will take place on Panchami this year, on 18 October 2015 (Sunday) in the evening.

The Team (the full list is attached; you can also log on to www.bablocksaltlake.com) includes residents of all ages and all walks of life which was set up at the meeting held on 9 August, 2015. We are confident that with all of us coming together and working hand in hand, BA Block will once again live up to the occasion to experience yet another year of bliss and joy during the festival.

I am also happy to inform you that we will bring out a colourful Durga Puja Souvenir this time too. Those who wish to contribute articles, write-ups, drawings, poems, etc., may please get in touch with Mr Arunava Das (BA-106, Cell: 9830045959), Ms Kalpita Saha (BA-68, Cell: 9883080647) and Dr Satyabrata Chakraborty (BA-5/4, Cell: 09432597988). The LAST DATE of submitting articles, write-ups, drawings, poems, etc is 10 September 2015.

Please also note that as per our stated editorial policy, the contents for the souvenir must be in sync with Pujas and community spirit. The Souvenir Publication and Printing Sub-Committee reserves the right to accept or reject articles, write-ups, drawings, poems, etc.

I would also like to appeal to you to help the BA Block Sarbojanin Durgotsav and Shyama Puja Committee 2015 by way of getting advertisements and sponsorship. Feel free to get in touch with the undersigned (Subrata Chakraborty, Cell: 9339739944), for more details. We also appeal to you to donate liberally for the festival.

In this context, I also call upon our esteemed Members to get at least one advertisement each to enable us to meet rising financial needs. Mention must be made in this context that the minimum subscription remains unchanged at Rs 800 despite growing inflations.

We will keep you informed about the programmes in detail on Cultural Shows, Puja ‘Nirghanta’ including the dates and timings of Anjali, Community Bhog & the Bijoya Sammilani Grand Dinner, Ananda Mela, Cultural Shows, etc, in subsequent communications.

Please get in touch with joint Conveners of Community Bhog and Reception Mr Amitava Das (BA-106, Cell-9830211853) or Mr Radha Madhab Paul (BA-180, Cell-9831818724) for any further clarification regarding Community Bhog.

Please also be informed that the Block children who have cleared Class 10 and Class 12 Exams successfully will be felicitated by the Puja Committee 2015. All successful candidates from our Block are requested to contact Prof Subrata Kumar Hore of BA-112 (Cell 9432650036), or Ms Sucharita Chatterjee (BA-136, Cell 09903275170) or Mr Debarpita Mitra of BA-5/1 (Cell: 9051062280) and submit applications mentioning their Name, Address, Age, Contact Number, Name of the exam, Board, etc., along with a photocopy of the mark-sheet. The last day of submission of the application and the required documents is 30 September, 2015.

We start visiting your homes to collect this year’s subscription on 6th September, 2015 and sincerely seek your support and co-operation in this matter.

NOTICE

Dear Members and Residents,

Greetings to All!

BA Block’s ‘rendezvous’ with Durga Puja has begun, and the ‘smell’ of the principal Bengali festival is already in the air.

Come October, our very own BA Block will be transformed with bustle and beauty. For a few days, our day-to-day miseries will take the backseat.

This year too we are bracing ourselves up to enjoy every last bit of what is arguably the most fabulous festival in Bengali calendar.

Let’s come together to rediscover the real spirit of Goddess Durga who eternally symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, taste the magic of those special days, and celebrate the occasion with great gusto and a spirit of what sarbojonin truly signifies. We are confident with participation from you all, we will be able to bring that magical feel of chimes and grandeur in the heart of our Block.

You also know that at the Special General Meeting of the Block Association held on 26 July 2015, the President and Secretary and Treasurer for the ensuing Durga Puja and Shyama Puja were unanimously chosen.

It’s time to take things forward. I, on behalf of the Duga Puja & Shyama Puja Committee 2015, cordially request all our Members and Residents and their families to attend a meeting on 9 August (Sunday) 2015 at 7:30 pm at ‘Utsarga’, BA-122/1, Salt-Lake City, Sector-I, Kolkata 700064, to form Sub-Committees, discuss plans, exchange ideas and take a solemn pledge of making the Pujas a resounding success.

It is our collective resolve to make things better and happier.

Salt Lake City BA Block Sarbojanin Durga Puja and Shyama Puja 2015

Greetings to All!

We are happy to inform you that Mr Snehashis Ghoshal of BA 81, Mr Subrata Chakraborty of BA 13/6 and Mr Mihir Ranjan Dasgupta of BA 15/6 have unanimously been appointed President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively of Durga Puja and Shyama Puja Committee 2015 at the Special General Meeting held on 26 July (Sunday) 2015 at ‘UTSARGA’, our Community Building.

This is also to inform you that the Special General Meeting unanimously decided that the minimum subscription for Durga Puja, Shyama Puja 2015 and Saraswati Puja 2016 (which will be organised by the Library Sub-Committee of the Block Association) will remain unchanged at Rs 800.

This is also to inform you that the Special General Meeting unanimously decided that all members of the Block Association will have to pay the puja subscription as decided by the Special General Meeting.

The newly constituted Durga Puja and Shyama Puja Committee 2015 will soon hold a meeting to form a fully-fledged committee and sub-committees and prepare action plans.

I on behalf of the Executive Committee 2015-16 urge all our Members and Residents to come forward and work hand in hand to make the Pujas a resounding success.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Dear Members and Residents,

15 August 2015 (Saturday) will mark the 69th Independence Day of our country.

As in the past we are organising the Flag hoisting ceremony on 15 August 2015 (Saturday) in the Children’s Park opposite ‘Utsarga’, our Community Building, at 9-00 am.

All members and residents are also requested to bring their families along and celebrate the 69th Independence Day.

I am happy to inform you that the Executive Committee 2015-16 at its first meeting held on 9 July 2015 decided to hold a Special General Meeting to form Committees for the forthcoming Durga Puja and Shyama Puja and discuss plans and fix subscriptions for the same on 26 July 2015 at 7-30 pm at ‘Utsarga’, BA-122/1, Salt Lake City, Kolkata-700064.

I, on behalf of the Executive Committee 2015-16, call upon all our esteemed Members to attend the Special General Meeting on 26 July 2015 at 7-30 pm.

The 36th Annual General Meeting of the Salt Lake City BA Block Residents’ Association will be held on 28 June 2015 (Sunday) from 11-00 am at ‘UTSARGA’, BA 122/1 Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700 064 to consider the following.

AGENDA

1. Confirmation of the Minutes of the last Annual General Meeting held on 29 June 2014.

2. To adopt with or without modification the Annual Report of the Association for the Year 2014-15.

3. To pass the Audited Accounts of the Association for the Year ended 31.3.2015

4. To appoint qualified Auditor and to fix remuneration thereof.

5. To transact such business as fixed by the Executive Committee which are as follows:

a) To consider enhancing the wages for Nights Guards

b) To discuss Membership issues and allied matters

6. To transact such business as may be brought forward by giving 14 days’ prior notice from any member who is not a defaulter

7. To consider resolution(s) by the Members of the Association after being properly proposed and seconded by any Member of the Association who is not a defaulter.

8. To conduct General Elections to be held and to elect the Executive Committee and Office-Bearers for the Year 2015-16.
